Trill is simply turning into a lion to retain his ability to do so. When he is in lion form, he's confronted by a ghost whose murder was never solved. Bard, the ghost, has been searching for help to find his body (plus two others) to give closure to the three families who are missing their children.

Bard finds the bodies when another ghost, a recent victim of the same murderer, joins him.

In the final book of the lion man trilogy, Trill is going to college at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD. While he is relaxing in the sun in lion form, he encounters the ghost of a young man who was murdered around ten years previously. With Trinity's help, Trill locates four bodies...alll the victims of a deranged man. But when Trill goes to a party, it sets off a chain of events. He ends up being framed for murder, among other things.
